About the Podcast
A History of Japan Podcast has three goals: to spread a greater awareness of the unique and interesting history of Japan, to encourage non-academics to engage in the study of history because it’s fun and awesome, and to give its host an excuse to talk at length about some of his favorite subjects which don’t normally arise in a typical conversation.
Season 1 will focus on the Paleolithic and Jomon Periods, exploring the lives of ancient people through the lens of archaeology and historical records from neighboring peoples.
Season 2 will center on the Yayoi Period and the many exciting developments throughout East Asia during that time.
About the Author
The host, Justin Hebert, is a science fiction/fantasy author who enjoys history (obviously), reading, and heckling pelicans (they know what they did!). He has long been fascinated with Japan and its history and lived there for a while a long time ago and would very much like to return someday.
